Mark Paiz - President and Founder Sherpa was founded in 2010 and provides labeling, secondary packaging, storage, distribution, and returns and reconciliation for clinical trial materials.  Sherpa supports global clinical trials and companies of all sizes.  Mark has 20 years of experience in the medical products industry.  As a senior executive he has been responsible for leading commercial, manufacturing, supply chain, quality and product development functions.  He previously served as President and COO of Arbor Vita Corporation, a biotech company developing therapeutic and diagnostic products.  Prior to that, he served as COO for Quidel Corporation, a leading point-of care diagnostic company.  His experience also includes multiple product development and operational roles for Medtronic and Hybritech.  Mr. Paiz holds a B.S. degree in Engineering and an M.B.A.  Mark has also completed a General Manager Certification from Harvard Business School.


Kevin Rosenthal - Sr. Director of Operations - Kevin is responsible for managing all aspects of Operations, leading and supporting the operational activities with a strategic mindset. Prior to joining Sherpa, Kevin held several leadership positions at Pharmatek Laboratories, where he led manufacturing business operations and was responsible for growth initiatives including facility expansion and new technology implementation. As Director of Manufacturing, Kevin managed over 1000 GMP productions for Phase 1 and 2 clinical trials and led construction of two GMP manufacturing facilities. Prior to Pharmatek, Kevin worked at Irisys, Inc., Elan and Dura Pharmaceuticals in manufacturing and product/process development. Kevin earned a B.S. in Chemistry and Biochemistry from San Diego State University.


Mark Shepanski - Sr. Director of Quality  Mark has been with Sherpa since early 2015 in a senior Operations management role and transitioned to lead the Quality function in January 2017.  Prior to joining Sherpa, Mark held several Quality leadership positions for a prominent medical products company and has 15+ years of experience in several key Quality functions including supplier management, internal and external auditing, and process and product improvement projects.  Mark’s experience in Clinical Packaging and Quality coupled with his strong customer focus is an asset to Sherpa as we continue to grow. Mark holds a B.S. degree in Biology from Penn State University.


Lynn Narasaki - Director of Project Management Lynn oversees planning, development and management for all Sherpa packaging and labelling projects, bringing in over 20 years of project and program management experience. Lynn has expertise managing complex packaging and distribution projects for phase 1, 2 and 3 clinical studies of all sizes. She excels at handling multi drug, multi site, global distribution projects with efficiency, accuracy and attentiveness for numerous clients. Prior to joining Sherpa, Lynn held various project management positions at Amylin Pharmaceuticals and Elan Pharmaceuticals.  She also held several management positions at PepsiCo/Yum! Brands. She played an instrumental role in facilitating cross functional teams and multidisciplinary projects and has handled procurement operations and logistics throughout her career. Ms. Narasaki holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara and a Masters of Business Administration degree from UC Irvine, Graduate School of Management.


John D. Puddy – Package Engineer/Sr. Project Manager John is a package engineer with more than 20 years of experience in engineering, management and leadership spanning the rapid diagnostics, medical devices and pharmaceutical industries. Before joining Sherpa, John held engineering and management positions in packaging divisions at numerous pharmaceuticals companies.  He served as an Associate Director at Amylin Pharmaceuticals and as a Senior Manager at Gilead Sciences. His career as a packaging engineer also includes working on a wide array project involving primary container/closure and secondary packaging systems at Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Quidel Corporation, Dura Pharmaceuticals and Medtronic. At Sherpa, he is dedicated to managing the packaging and distribution projects for all phases of clinical trials. He enjoys innovating and customizing packaging solutions tailored to individual client’s needs and takes pride in customer satisfaction. He is credited with a patent for co-inventing a unique cartridge system for a high volume diabetes injection pen drug product. John earned his Bachelors of Science in Industrial Technology with a concentration in packaging from the University of Wisconsin – Stout.
